About This Video

In this SuiteDash 101: Projects walkthrough, I break down what projects actually are in SuiteDash (spoiler: it’s really just a space to track tasks) and how everything connects back to your CRM. The biggest thing to remember is that projects are always tied to a client—either a Client record or a Company record—and that “duality” matters for visibility. If you’re trying to manage internal-only work, that lives in My Tasks as private tasks that are invisible to anyone else. I also show how tasks can be assigned to you, your team, or even the client, plus how followers control who gets notifications and updates. Then I go down and dirty inside an actual project: phases (think status lanes/board view), timers for tracking time with hourly rates, calendar view for due dates, and files (including private files vs client-submitted files). We also talk Team Talk and Client Talk—threaded conversations tied to the project—and the exact privacy/convenience settings you’ll want if you want people replying via email without signing in every time. Finally, I cover templates vs generators (templates are your repeatable task lists; generators are how you kick them off via automations/kickoff flows) and why work requests are the most important part. Work requests let clients submit “tickets,” attach files, link to existing projects, and then you can convert that request into a task, a new/existing project, an estimate, or an invoice. I wrap with global project settings and notification preferences so your inbox doesn’t explode.
