About This Video

In this SuiteDash 101 tutorial, I’m walking you through one of my favorite “work smarter, not harder” tricks: Dynamic Custom URL Button Links. The whole point is simple—give each client a button on their dashboard (or portal page) that takes them to their own unique link, pulled from a custom field. In my example, the client didn’t want to use SuiteDash’s internal file management module, so we used OneDrive folder links instead. Marie gets Marie’s folder link, Jesse gets Jesse’s folder link, and nobody sees anyone else’s stuff. I show you how to set up URL-type custom fields at the contact level (because it’s universal and still visible where I need it—company-level alone won’t show to the contact). Then I build dashboard buttons using “Navigate to URL from Custom Field,” explain what each button setting means (button text, click action, open in new tab, sizing/alignment), and why missing field data will break the button. Finally, I cover the scalable way to populate links: an update form + a staff submit workflow, so I can update client links without clicking into every profile manually. I also show how I create an internal-only custom admin menu for quick access, and how I impersonate clients to test that each button routes correctly based on what’s filled in.
