About This Video

In this video, I’m talking about something I see all the time in ESL classrooms: grammar gets labeled as “boring” when it doesn’t have to be. When I teach grammar through games, my English learners actually use the target structure instead of just filling in blanks. I share ideas that get students listening, speaking, and interacting with grammar in a way that makes the skill stick—because when students are engaged, they remember more. I also tried to mix options that work for different ages, so you’ll hear ideas that can fit young learners and also teenagers. The big takeaway is simple: pick one grammar focus, keep the directions clear, and build repetition into the game so students practice the structure many times without feeling like they’re “doing grammar.” I also share helpful links for sentence structure, vocabulary usage, grammar examples, and sentence correction worksheets—so you can quickly find models and practice materials to support the games you use.
