In this video, I’m sharing my go-to list of FREE English learning apps and websites that actually work when you’re teaching ESL learners from home. Distance learning can be tough—especially when you’re trying to keep students practicing listening, speaking, reading, and vocabulary without you right there next to them. So I walk you through five solid options I’ve used and recommended over the years: Busuu, Duolingo, LyricsTraining, BBC Learning English, and VOA Learning English. As I explain in the video, these sites don’t replace quality, direct instruction (nothing replaces a well-planned lesson and a teacher who knows their students). But they can be a very effective way to provide extra practice, structure independent learning time, and boost language proficiency—especially when you assign specific tasks and follow up with accountability. I also share practical tips for using these resources strategically, so your students aren’t just “clicking around,” but actually building skills in a focused way.
