In this video, I share some of my go-to online speaking games for ESL learners that are truly easy to run and genuinely fun for students. When I’m teaching online, I want speaking practice that feels interactive—not like drill and practice—so I lean on quick games that get students talking to each other right away. These activities work beautifully as a warm-up or as a transition into the “heart” of your lesson, and you can adjust them for beginners, intermediate students, and advanced ELLs. I also talk through how online English games create real opportunities for students to practice communication skills in a low-pressure way. The big takeaway is this: if you build in simple, structured speaking games, your students will talk more, participate more, and gain confidence faster.
