If you’re a multitasker like me and you keep a bunch of apps open on your Mac, you already know the pain: when you’re done, you end up going app by app and hitting Command + Q. In this video, I tested QuitAll for macOS, a simple menu bar utility that lets me instantly quit all running apps with one click—or quit only the ones I select. I’m using a 16-inch MacBook, and the workflow is straightforward: click the QuitAll icon, see a list of active apps, and either “Quit All” or “Quit Selected.” What I really like is that it also shows CPU usage next to each app, so I can quickly spot what’s eating resources (for example, my screen recorder was using a lot). I also walk through the settings: opening at login (a must), enabling the “cool sound” effect, hiding background apps (because that list gets messy), and options like “never quit music apps,” including Finder windows, and even emptying the trash from the list (be careful with that). I also cover auto-quitting inactive apps and the difference between normal quit vs force quit—force quit can close unsaved work, so I keep it on normal. Finally, I compare the one-time purchase price versus getting QuitAll through Setapp, which I personally find more cost-effective since it bundles a lot of Mac (and iOS) apps with a free trial.
