In this video I break down what “ungating” on Amazon actually means in plain English. As a new seller, Amazon will let you sell in some categories right away, but other categories are locked (aka you’re “gated”). I talk through common gated categories like toys and games, grocery, clothing, automotive, and media like DVDs/CDs/Blu-ray—and why it’s worth working toward unlocking them because the profit potential is huge, especially if you’re trying to scale your reselling income. I cover the two main ways to get ungated. Method #1 is time + good account health: you sell consistently in the categories you already have, keep your metrics clean, and sometimes Amazon will “grandfather” you into more categories/brands automatically. Method #2 is the direct route: you submit an invoice from a legit distributor/manufacturer to prove you’re sourcing authentic products. I show how to check if you’re gated using the “Have one to sell” button, how to request approval, and exactly what Amazon wants on an invoice (matching name/address, dated within 180 days, and usually 10+ units). I also walk through a real invoice example and explain why you never manipulate documents—Amazon can verify by contacting your vendor.
