In this video I keep it short, sweet, and to the point: when you can start filing your 2024 taxes in 2025, and how you can actually get a head start before the “official” opening day. According to the IRS, the 2025 tax filing season officially starts January 27th, which is when they’ll begin accepting tax returns. But here’s the key takeaway: even if the IRS isn’t accepting returns until January 27th, you can still get your taxes filed early using the IRS Free File program on IRS.gov. Starting now, almost everyone can file electronically for free through IRS Free File—as long as you qualify. The main qualifier I mention is adjusted gross income (AGI) of $84,000 or less (and if you’re married filing jointly, that’s a combined AGI under $84,000).
