What’s going on everybody — it’s Justin, otherwise known as The Flipping Accountant, and in this one I’m doing something a little different from FlipCon 2022. It was day two, early morning, and I walked around grabbing quick, practical tips from a bunch of experienced resellers (and some of the event organizers) on how to sell more stuff online. I originally set out to make it “eBay tips,” but honestly most of the advice applies to eBay, Amazon, Mercari, Whatnot, Facebook Marketplace — whatever platform you’re using. The biggest theme you’re going to hear over and over is simple: list it. Don’t get paralyzed trying to be perfect, because stuff sitting in a death pile doesn’t make you any money. We also talked about avoiding hype-buying, not shopping for your own personal preferences, and not getting sentimental about inventory that’s been sitting for 10 months to two years. On the practical side, we hit pricing to market (not based on what you paid), taking good pictures, checking condition before you buy, and even avoiding policy landmines like selling “RX only” medical devices (CPAPs can get you in trouble). Bottom line: stay motivated, block out distractions, and keep moving inventory.
