In this video, I’m putting the reformulated Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation to the test—because baby, it is not the same, and I’m going to show you why. With so many reformulations happening right now (thanks to cyclic silicones being banned in the EU/Europe), I wanted to see how this “new” Double Wear compares to the old one on my combo/oily, textured, mature skin. I swatch several level 5 shades (5C1, 5C2, 5N1, 5N1.5, 5N2, 5W1, 5W2), and I also point out a big change: the shades are different in the reformulation—my usual match pulls lighter, so you may need to go deeper. Then I do a true side-by-side wear test: old formula on one side of my face, new formula on the other, using my standard prep (Ilia Face Base Milk, Belif Aqua Bomb Eye Cream, and Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Blurring Balm) and the same tools to keep it consistent. After almost 10 hours (no touch-ups), both sides still look very good, but I do see slightly more oiliness on the new formula side. The old formula performs a little better, but the new one is still lightweight, long-wearing, and very impressive—just don’t skip getting re-shade matched.
