We jump back into the preliminaries: Dark Samus absolutely bodies Ridley (he’s reduced to a pile of useless… yeah), Link vs Inkling turns into a cameo-stunned mess (I’m Pajama Sam), and Mario vs Bowser gets so drunk it stops being a fight and becomes pure chaos. Then Simon Belmont vs Bayonetta happens, and her witch powers are no match for Simon’s muscle powers, so Simon takes the slot as our fourth semi-finalist. Then it’s time to “sit back, relax, and bear witness to the semi-finals.” The big takeaway: a lot has happened since this series started—Shrek Retold, a pandemic, Sonic Rebuilt, two online Shrekfests—and I’m juggling this with Shrek 2 Retold, so the schedule gets spicy.
