We’re talking antique mall finds, crusty plushies with white mold on them (probably penicillin, definitely not edible), and that whole bizarre ecosystem of “Indiana company Garfield merch” that exists for reasons no human can fully justify. It’s chaos, but it’s the exact flavor of chaos that fuels half of what I make. Then we finally yank the conversation back to Shrek, and Quinton drops the “Shrek 2 is better than Shrek 1” take with the confidence of a man who knows he’s about to start a small war. We get into why Shrek 2 hits harder: tighter comedy, bigger set pieces, and that DreamWorks shift from “can we be Pixar?” to “actually, we can do our own thing.” We also talk about Quinton’s involvement in Shrek 2 Retold—how he went way harder than expected (custom vest, insane detail, holographic-rare-card energy) and why we kept trying to pull him back in for more. Finally, we hit the big question: what’s next for 3GI after Shrek 2 Retold? My honest answer is “one day at a time,” because this project is like keeping a baby alive. But yeah—part of me wants to use this formula for something totally original, and part of me wants to do Shrek 3 Retold specifically because Shrek 3 sucks and nobody remembers anything… which means we can rewrite it into whatever we want.
