About This Video

Hello everyone, Technical Sahil here. In this video I show you exactly how I log in to a remote Linux server from a Windows PC using the PuTTY SSH client—because in many of my tutorials I use PuTTY and people get confused when I press the up arrow for command repetition or when I right-click to paste and nothing “shows” on the terminal. So I start from the basics: where to download PuTTY, why you don’t really need an installation (just the EXE), and how to open it on Windows. Then I demonstrate the real workflow I use in practice: paste your server IPv4, keep port 22 by default (or change it if your SSH runs on a different port), accept the first-time security warning, and log in with username (like root) and password. I also cover the small but important PuTTY behaviors: right-click pastes copied text, passwords won’t display even though they are pasted, and the up arrow brings back command history. Finally, I show how to save sessions so you don’t type IP and username again and again—plus a common mistake: if you right-click twice during password entry, it can paste the password twice and you’ll think your password is wrong.
