Hello everyone, welcome back to your own channel Technical Sahil. In this video I’m showing you exactly how you can enable and access the FTP user for a specific website inside DreamHost. If you have multiple domains on one hosting, like I showed with my example website, the main thing is: you should open the correct site’s FTP/SFTP area from the DreamHost panel so you don’t end up managing the wrong directory. I go step-by-step: first I open DreamHost, then I go to Websites and click on “SFTP Users & Files”. After selecting the particular website, I enable FTP by allowing insecure connections and confirming. Then I copy the login info (hostname and username) and use FileZilla as the FTP client. I also reset/generate a strong password from DreamHost and paste it into FileZilla, and for FTP I use port 21. Once you click Quickconnect, you can access your site directories and your WordPress files, and you can download, refresh, delete, or rename files as needed. My key takeaway is: always generate a strong password and double-check you’re connecting to the correct hostname/username for that specific website before you start making changes.
