About This Video

Hello everyone, Technical Sahil here. In this video I showed you how to take a complete backup of a WordPress website without using any plugin. I’m making this because many WordPress users depend on backup plugins, and then they get stuck with issues like memory limit, upload file size, and other errors. Honestly, in my opinion I’ve never favored these plugins for a task that we can manually do very easily—and yes, I demonstrated the easy manual method step-by-step. I did the demo on DreamHost, so first I took the database backup using phpMyAdmin (Websites → MySQL Databases → phpMyAdmin). After logging in with the database username and password, I simply used Export to download the database file. Then I backed up the website files from the file manager by selecting all files/folders and downloading them as a zip—DreamHost creates the zip automatically and you just start the download. I also explained that interfaces vary (cPanel, Plesk, Hostinger, DreamHost), so the buttons may look different, and on some panels you’ll get “Check All” while on DreamHost you may need to select items manually. If your site is large, I also recommend using FTP to select everything at once and download faster.
