Ecamm Live 4.5 Beta just dropped, and it has one feature that’s going to genuinely transform the way I create: Dual Mode. In this video I show you how you can stream and record in horizontal and vertical at the same time, with intentionally designed layouts for each format—so your vertical output actually looks native instead of being a cropped hack job or a tiny 16:9 box floating in a tall frame. For me, the real game changer is repurposing. I build everything around a one-take workflow with no edits, and historically that made vertical repurposing painful—especially with screen shares and split layouts. With Dual Mode, I can record once and get two files (one horizontal, one clearly labeled “vertical”), already laid out properly. I also walk through the practical setup: where Dual Mode lives in the menus, why you should duplicate (and even export) your profile before switching, how the canvas behaves, and how to send comments to horizontal, vertical, or both. Beyond Dual Mode, I cover a few quality-of-life additions: larger outline window font sizes, a new grid view for scenes (great for touchscreens and run-of-show workflows), a separate encoder option to protect recording quality while streaming, and smarter multi-destination streaming that can automatically adjust resolution per platform.
