I’m in the middle of building out my new studio, and before I move a single piece of tech in, I wanted to do a tour “clean”—because most studio tours are honestly hard to see through once the cameras, lights, monitors, and general clutter show up. In this video I walk you around the space almost fully built, and I explain the plan for where everything is going: my primary camera and teleprompter will be wall-mounted (not on a tripod like before), with my key and fill lights on dedicated brackets—basically the same lighting approach I used in my old studio, just way more intentional. The big theme here is control: control of light, sound, and workflow. I’ve covered the doors and walls with acoustic panels (including a couple of modified ones with patterned material), blocked windows so I can lock in consistent lighting, and even suspended ceiling panels—one specifically positioned to help reduce the direct noise path from the air conditioning unit. I also built a larger custom desktop so I can actually get behind my desk without fighting a tripod. I’m also setting this room up for more than one “same chair, different angle” shot. I’m adding a second camera angle aimed back toward a featured background wall, plus a movable solution for the sliding door so I can still get daylight when I’m not filming. Next steps: carpet, moving in the gear, and then I’ll do the full tour once it’s operational.
