I pulled up to Selfridges and linked up with my guy Noah (OGs will remember him from my H Beauty vlogs) to properly test the full Balenciaga fragrance line—10 scents, all completely genderless. The way this collection is set up is clean: it starts lighter and fresher, then gradually gets darker and smokier. We kicked off with No Comment, which has this super crisp, fresh cypress/Spanish wood vibe plus a green molecule that’s exclusive to Balenciaga. Then we moved through the more tropical salty-aquatic one (fresh, but not “fresh fresh fresh”), and into 24/7, which is basically the vanilla one—vanilla, musk and amber, proper if you like that powdery vanilla style. Out of the fresher side, To Be Confirmed was my favourite. It’s got Chinese silver needle tea, it’s soapy and super clean, and it gives that linen shirt energy—plus I’m not even joking, I wore it and got two compliments already. From there we get into the more characterful stuff: Mascara with iris and a lipsticky feel, Le Dix (a reformulation of Balenciaga’s first ever fragrance) that gives people that Parma violets vibe, a metallic-sexy rose with pepper, and then Crystal—my number one. Crystal is that head-turning scent with patchouli and oakmoss, with people even picking up a dark chocolate vibe. I ended it with my top two: Crystal at #1 and To Be Confirmed at #2—if you’re in Selfridges, go smell the collection with Noah.
