We’re back on the biggest sand island we’ve got—Fraser Island—and this trip’s a bit different. We rolled over with three fully-kitted touring rigs to do a proper real-world shakedown of Breto’s big 2500 Ram: beach runs, inland tracks, camp setup, and all the little things you only find out when you’re actually out there. Full moon tides were absolutely diabolical, the east coast camping situation was a mess, so we committed to the west coast and punched across via Woralie Road—proper highlight reel terrain from one side to the other. But of course… it wouldn’t be a TJ AND MAC trip without chaos. The “dad bus” decided to throw a spinner in the works and snapped the drive studs, axle trying to escape—so we did what we do: build it, break it, fix it. Electrical tape, zip ties, a bit of MacGyver energy, rear diff locked, and we limped it through to camp (somehow). From there it’s the good stuff: Kungal Creek, cracking tins, sunset that melts into the horizon, awning chaos, radio sabotage, and the usual fishing optimism… with the usual results. No wasted weekends—don’t wait, take the trip.
