This is the start of our Cape York series, and we’ve stitched it into a proper mega movie—every camp, every breakage, every pub, every obstacle, every track. It’s a boys trip: four cars, eight blokes, and a whole lot of beer, heading from the Sunshine Coast all the way to the tip of Australia in 4 Toyotas. We’re taking the hard tracks where we can, showing the nitty-gritty stuff people usually skip—fuel stops, long highway slogs, setting up swags, and the chaos that comes with trying to stay on schedule. We kick off with Notch Point (absolute weapon of a campsite), then push hard toward Mission Beach with big days behind the wheel. Along the way you’ll see the usual Cape-trip reality check: vague steering turns into a full-blown wheel bearing failure, we get insanely lucky with a local legend (Dan) and a trailer, and the Hilux ends up getting a proper driveway repair job in Townsville with the HFD boys.
