About This Video
In this one, we finally do the highly-requested nitty-gritty: a full price guide and step-by-step on my GU Patrol Cummins 6BT conversion. We’re not trying to turn into a super technical channel, but you legends kept asking for exact dollar figures and what parts are actually involved from start to finish—so Max gets the whiteboard out and we run through it properly. The big ticket item is the EnginesOnly 210hp 5.9 package, but the point is it’s not “just a long motor”—it’s a fully dressed crate setup with mounts, adapter, clutch/flywheel, turbo, starter, alternator and more.
We cover the stuff that catches people out: the adjustable EPC crossmember, setting engine height (straight edge guard-to-guard, about 220mm to the top of the block), and getting the cooling system right with a TB45-style radiator and some simple hose solutions (including the Falcon lower hose trick). Then we get into fuel system basics, aircon lines, intercooler/brackets/shroud, and the big one for drivability and safety—brakes. Because the 6BT doesn’t make vacuum like you need, I went hydroboost (and yes, it’ll lock up 37s).
We also go through wiring without the fear factor: a few relays, a proper fuel shut-off setup, and how I got the tach working on a CRD using Dakota Digital. If you’re planning a Cummins Patrol swap, this is the checklist and the reality check on costs—especially if you’re doing it yourself.
