Welcome back to Operation K Truck. In this one I’m finally getting the Cummins trophy truck build looking like a car again—rear clip, suspension, driveline, the lot. I finished welding out the tubes and coilover mounts, started building a removable cross-bridge with cage joiners (spare tyre’s going between it), and got the tub floor sorted so it can head off to powder coat. It’s proper shed life stuff—measure ten times, cut it on the grinderoo, and try not to set your feet on fire (yes, thongs were involved… do as I say, not as I do). I also got the fuel system moving with a 130L baffled fuel cell, dropped coilovers in, and went down the rabbit hole of spring rates. I tried 600 over 600s and it was instantly a no—sat the car way too high from full bump—so it’s back to the backyard method of getting it close, then adjusting once the tub, fuel, spare and camping gear are on. From there it’s brake lines, axles, limit straps (absolute must with heavy diffs), sway bar setup, and then the moment of truth: a first drive on the new rear end. We made it to HyperFab, got the exhaust/fuel filler sorted… then the power steering pump let go and I came home on a truck. Build it, break it, fix it—no wasted weekends.
