Testing, testing… mic check! In this video I’m finally taming my wild, untamed curls and showing you exactly how I do a DIY curly haircut at home—no salon visit needed, girl. I was growing my hair out (it was literally touching my butt crack), but I got lazy and the dead, see-through ends had to go. I personally prefer layers because I love a face-frame shape, so I’m doing a cut inspired by the Rëzo Cut and Deva Cut, using my tried-and-true method from my viral curly cut tutorial—with a few little tweaks. I walk you through my step-by-step process while my hair is conditioned and detangled: middle part (take your time so it’s even), two tight ponytails to measure and remove dead ends, then the unicorn method to create longer layers for volume and bounce. After that, I do a half-up/half-down layering step to keep the shape balanced, and I finish with an optional bang/face-framing trim (I’m super strict here because I’ve cut my bangs too short before and… never again).
