I’m starting by removing my old set (mine lasted about 3–4 weeks), then I go straight into nail prep because that’s what makes or breaks longevity. I use a cuticle softener (I didn’t even start using one until a couple years ago), push my cuticles back, and trim only the dead skin—because it’s not supposed to hurt. I also trim my natural nails down first because, for me, press-ons last way longer when my nails are short. After I wash my hands, I prep the nail plate with a nail dehydrator (this has been a game-changer for me) and lightly buff with a rough buffer so the glue has something to grip. Then I apply the KISS glue, slide the nail onto my natural nail, and hold it down for a real 20–30 seconds—none of that 5-second stuff. I finish by filing the tips sharper for that acrylic-inspired look, and I seal the whole “fresh manicure” vibe with Vaseline hand cream and L’Occitane cuticle oil for that moisturized, salon-like finish at home.
