About This Video

In this video I check out the Tangzu Wu Zetian Legend, which is basically Tangzu’s latest entry into the current “Planar Wars.” I start with the unboxing (Tangzu always nails the artwork, even if the box still has the naming wrong), then go into build and accessories. The chassis looks really nice with that abalone layer under a faceplate you can actually see through, plus you get a Flash Acoustics cable that’s genuinely exquisite and terminated in 4.4mm—perfect for my DAP/dongle setup. Tangzu also throws in their full set of Sancai tips, which is a nice freebie, even if I still think there are better tips out there. Sound-wise, the Wu Zetian Legend is a V-shaped set with elevated upper mids, and it’s running dual planars (14.2mm for bass, 6mm for top end). The idea is lower distortion, and I do like how the smaller planar helps the treble sound airier compared to the darker original Wu. Bass is that classic planar style: clean, sub-bass focused, and linear rather than dynamic-driver “slam.” Mids come through clear and precise (especially with more power—this set is power hungry), and treble extension is very airy but still smooth to my ears. I also compare it to the LetShuoer S12 2024 and 7Hz Timeless 2. The S12 2024 feels more solid (titanium) and is cheaper, while the Timeless 2 is the most versatile planar IEM thanks to its nozzle options—so if you’re choosing between them, I’d personally lean Timeless 2 as the better all-round alternative.
