I unboxed and reviewed the $30 7Hz Elua Ultra—an IEM that shows up like the universe’s little joke: cheap, impulsive, and somehow capable of delivering an unreasonable amount of bass in a cardboard box that contains absolutely zero dopamine. I go through the build ("resin" that feels like plastic that went to private school), the included cable and aggressively colorful tips, and then get into what actually matters: whether this thing can shut up your internal monologue for a while. Sound-wise, the Elua Ultra is a V-shape that leans Harman—safe enough to bring to dinner, but with bass that’s clearly the protagonist. Sub-bass digs deep with real rumble and texture, not the usual muddy $30 warmth, and it hits with the kind of impact that makes you forget taxes exist for a second. Mids are polite and recessed-but-present, treble has sparkle without turning into an ice pick, and staging is intimate—more smoky jazz club than concert hall. I also compare it to the original Elua (the Ultra is the therapy arc) and the $50 Kefine Klean SV (the responsible choice). My verdict: for $30, it’s a fun, punchy B+… even if 7Hz thinks you don’t deserve a pouch.
