About This Video

Hi ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls—welcome back to the Super Chunk Super Audio Show. In this video I’m basically making the case for why you should stop defaulting to the Sony MDR-7506 and look at something newer that targets the same “studio monitoring” niche: the NF ACOUS (NF ACOUS/NF AUS) NH20. I go through the full unboxing (yes, the box is huge), the very cool guitar-pick-shaped case, and the included two cable lengths (1.2m and 3m) which is genuinely practical depending on how close you sit to your interface or amp. Then I get into build and tech. At around $199, the NH20 feels modern, robust, and confidence-inspiring—swivel/tilt cups, solid hinges, and a nice clicky headband adjustment. On the inside, NF ACOUS uses their MC2L400 40mm dual-magnetic, dual-cavity dynamic driver plus an “acoustic control matrix” (foam layers of different densities) to tame closed-back reflections, and angled drivers to improve imaging. Sound-wise it’s monitoring-focused: highly resolving, slightly V-shaped with an upper-mid emphasis for detail, fast and detailed bass that leans sub-bass, and treble that extends surprisingly well for a closed-back dynamic at this price. I also compare it to the Simgot EP5 and the MDR-7506, and I wrap with my ratings and why it’s a strong pick for bedroom musicians—just remember to cross-check mixes on a more natural reference so you don’t overcompensate.
