hi guys, welcome to the super chunk super audio show. in this video i’m checking out the rose technique star city 5 pro, which is their sub-$100 offering—and honestly, it over delivers for the asking price. i go through the unboxing, the build, and the sound (with a graph), and the overall theme here is simple: this set sounds more expensive than it should. the packaging is surprisingly premium, and you even get a usb-c dac in the box, so if you’re on a usb-c phone you can literally start enjoying it immediately without buying another dongle. for build, it’s a compact resin shell with a metal face plate vibe that reminded me a bit of campfire’s chromatic series, and it’s comfortable in my ears. the only real “hmm” is the mmcx choice—it’s the free-spinning type with resistance, but i generally prefer fixed mmcx to reduce connector stress, and of course 2-pin is more common for cable swaps. sound-wise it’s a nicely balanced v-shape with a slight upper-mid lift: fast, tight sub-bass-focused bass (quality over quantity), a liquid and highly detailed midrange where vocals—especially female vocals—sound exceptionally sweet, and smooth treble with good extension for balanced armatures. i also compare it versus the meze alba and nf audio ra15, then wrap with my ratings and why i’d recommend this to vocal lovers.
