In this video, I review the AFUL Performer 8S—an IEM with a name that sounds like a government project and a bathroom air freshener had a meeting. I start with first impressions and the unboxing, because AFUL weirdly nailed the “Echoes of Jupiter” presentation. The box actually tries, the whole space vibe is committed, and I was genuinely happy there’s no pointless hi-res sticker slapped on it. Accessories are solid too: multiple tips, a case that feels like a soap-bar brick built for minor apocalypses, and the little tools that let you tinker with the tuning. Then I get into the build, comfort, and the actual party trick: an adjustable passive radiator system you can run open or closed. That doesn’t just add or remove bass—it changes the bass texture. Closed is tighter, more stable, more controlled; open goes deeper and softer with more bloom, which is a whole different mood. Sound-wise, it lives in a tasteful, balanced V-shape: engaging bass, warm-leaning mids that keep vocals present, and treble that stays smooth without punishing you. I do a quick personality check against the DUNU Falcon 2, and I land on an A rating because it’s “fun” without turning into chaos.
