About This Video

In this video I finally got my hands on the Ear Acoustic STA High End Max (aka the “why does this name have 11 syllables” IEM). I keep it simple and just call it “the earphone,” then I go through the unboxing: a pretty plain silver box, two sets of semi-decent tips, and a silver zipper pouch that’s tough but has a rough zipper that makes me nervous for… reasons. Build-wise, it’s decent but a bit tacky—an electroplated plastic shell that looks metallic, with a metal faceplate and a 2-pin socket so cable swapping is easy. The real point is the sound. This is an old school, early-2000s vibe IEM—think Tanchjim Tanya / Dunu Dancer / Moondrop Quarks (whichever reference you know). The bass is big, bloaty, and not the cleanest, but that’s the charm: it kicks hard and absolutely slaps with DJ remix-type music. Vocals are surprisingly nice in tone color, treble is serviceable and non-offensive (not airy), and the staging feels like being in a club with sound coming from everywhere. I also compare it to the Simgot EA500LM: the Simgot totally outclasses it in resolution and technicalities, no contest. But this Ear Acoustic isn’t trying to be “serious”—it’s dumb, fun, nostalgic, and sometimes that matters more than finesse.
