About This Video

In this video I’m basically calling it: in 2025 the planar wars are back, but the game has changed. New “planar IEMs” aren’t just single planar sets anymore—we’re seeing hybrid designs, dual planars, and a lot more tuning options that actually matter. I put five of the most popular next-gen planars head-to-head: Simgot ET142, Tangzu Wu Zetian Legend, 7Hz Timeless II, Letshuoer S12 2024, and Kiwi Ears Aether. I also made a comparison table (pause the video) because the specs look close… but numbers never tell the full story. I go through build, cables, power needs, and most importantly how they sound—bass speed and sub-bass focus, midrange clarity, treble smoothness (yes, a lot of that old metallic planar timbre is basically gone now), staging, and separation. The ET142 impressed me the most on raw resolution and microdetail, while Timeless II is the chameleon thanks to four nozzles that genuinely change the presentation. For vocals, I call it a tie between S12 2024 and Wu Zetian Legend because both render vocals warmer, sweeter, and very clean. And if you just want the best bang for buck, the Aether is the value pick—slower transients than the top dogs, but still solid and very close for the price.
