About This Video

In Desk Dispatch 002, I’m doing a quiet monthly check-in from my desk—tools I’m curating, and the habits and structures I’m playing with, all in service of a slower, more intentional analog lifestyle. This month’s “cheerful summer carry” is the Kaweco Sport in Honey, inked with Jacques Herbin Ambre de Birmanie (which I will continue to butcher out loud). I wanted a yellow that actually shows up on the page for long-form journaling, and this one lands in that warm, coffee-like zone that feels right for the season. It also reminded me that a “cheaper” pen can bring more joy than something far more expensive—because feel, texture, and the writing experience matter more than the price tag. Speaking of expensive pens, I also share my bumpy, slightly heartbreaking LAMY 2000 journey: a medium nib that didn’t suit my writing angle, a long wait for a fine nib swap, a leaking issue that led to a full replacement, and then the worst—dropping it nib-first and paying again to replace the nib. On the practical side, I test the Kurvd Waterbears screen cleaner (good for smudges, not a deep clean), and I’m honest about falling behind in my Midori 5-Year Diary. Right now my Traveler’s Notebook is the single “refuge” that’s serving me, and I’m learning to be okay with that while I return to my non-negotiable analog habits.
