In this video I dive into the Polyend ENDLESS, and yeah—I call it the most dangerous pedal I’ve ever used, because it’s not a normal “here are the algorithms” multi-effect. ENDLESS is an open platform effects pedal where you can pull effects from a community library, code your own, or do what I did most: describe a sound in plain language and have it generate a custom effect on the spot. I spent about two weeks with it, burned roughly 5,000 tokens, and ran around 80 prompts—then I wrote and recorded an original song/demo so you can hear how good this thing can actually sound in a real mix. I talk through what the process felt like: Polyend’s advice to start simple is legit, because the more layers you stack into a single prompt, the hairier the results can get. The token system (with $20/2,000 tokens included out of the box) ends up pushing you to be intentional—say what you mean and mean what you say. Some prompts landed instantly; others took trial-and-error, but even the “fails” were inspiring. It felt like mad-scientist engineering, and I loved that. I also get into who ENDLESS is really for: curious players and experimenters who want to be on the other side of the design process without learning Max/MSP or building circuits. It’s not perfect and it has limitations, but it rewards patience, iteration, and a solid effects vocabulary—and it genuinely kept me coming back because I was having fun and finally realizing sounds I’ve been chasing for years.
