Created out of the depression era this delicious burger satisfies a lot of burger cravings. There are several special techniques to follow to make a true onion burger. I used 6 oz patties but I'd recommend only 4 oz for the real thing. Additionally, the onions have to be very thinly sliced. We want onion caramelization happening under the burger and the thinner the slices the better. American cheese is amazing in this burger and you really want the cheese to melt into the burger and onions.
