About This Video

Welcome back to another van tour with Small Vans Big World—this time I’m walking you through a 2023 Ford Transit Connect Passenger Edition that has almost all the options. Even though it started as a passenger van, we pulled all the seats and built it out like we do our micro campers: a super functional layout with an exterior-access fridge (so you can load groceries without even climbing in), white laminate cabinetry (we don’t paint anymore—laminate is way more durable and easy to clean), and smart storage everywhere. Up front I show the overhead extension for lightweight gear, the diesel heater controls (heater is under the driver’s seat), and a taller cabin divider that doubles as a projector screen—such a fun film-lover upgrade. From there I get into the systems: dimmable lighting, USB/120V power, inverter switch, battery meter, and a heat pad for the built-in floor water system. This van is packed electrically—30A alternator charging plus 360W of solar on the roof, which is honestly the most I’ve seen on a tiny micro camper van, especially with a fan and a skylight up there too. In the back, I show the cedar ceiling/walls, epoxy-coated butcher block counters, multiple pop-up/pullout tables to make up for losing counter space to the microwave cabinet, and a stainless sink with a pull-out faucet for rinsing or an outdoor shower. And of course, I demo our scratch-built futon-style bed—fast, heavy-duty slides, and super user-friendly. At the end, I give you a sneak peek from our new shop: a 2023 Toyota Sienna Hybrid we’re about to convert with a totally different layout and an (hopefully) automated trifold bed.
