This is literally a video I didn’t expect to make (and the timing was so bad) because my old 2019 15-inch MacBook Pro randomly died on my LA layover. The trackpad froze, the keyboard stopped responding, Apple couldn’t fix it, and the repair was going to be at least $1,000… so I finally upgraded to my actual dream MacBook: the 16-inch MacBook Pro in space black with the M4 Pro chip, 24GB memory, and 512GB storage. I unbox everything, talk about why I chose space black (it’s way less overstimulating than silver to me), and go over the ports that make this so much easier for editing—especially the SD card slot. Then I take you through my setup and aesthetic customization: dark mode, hiding the dock for a minimal look, setting up Touch ID, Apple Intelligence, and my favorite widgets. I also show my Flip Clock screensaver + Hot Corners trick because it makes the whole setup feel so cute and intentional. And of course, I compare it to the MacBook Air—mainly the screen. The Liquid Retina XDR display was the deal breaker for me because the Air looked like it had a gray filter in-store. I also keep it real about the cons like fingerprints, the weight, and the price (even with my student discount), but for video editing and color accuracy, I’m honestly obsessed so far.
