About This Video

I’ve been feeling kind of lost in my listening lately—like I’m stuck in the same loop of albums I already know—so I challenged myself to listen to 30 new albums in 30 days. Since collecting vinyl has made me way more intentional about what I put on and when, I wanted to bring that same energy to streaming too: set aside dedicated time every day, pick an album I hadn’t heard, and actually sit with it. My rules were simple: one new album a day, rate each one out of 10, and do weekly recaps—plus a top 5 at the end. Over the month, I had some massive wins (I’m still mad at myself for procrastinating Imaginal Disc by Magdalena Bay because… 10/10, perfect album) and a lot more misses than I expected. I also learned that forcing a brand-new album into my brain every single day is kind of exhausting for me—like, I have to be in the right headspace to fully appreciate something, and speed-running discovery can backfire. But I did find new favorites (Private Music by Deftones, Mayhem by Lady Gaga, Heavy Pulp by The Technicolors), and the biggest takeaway was proving to myself that making time for new music is possible—if I’m intentional about it.
