Oh my god, I was genuinely freaking out in this video because I’m doing a full first-listen reaction to Louis Tomlinson’s brand new album, How Did I Get Here? (his third studio album). I go track-by-track through all 12 songs, starting with “Lemonade” (which I already knew was a banger) and then getting into the nittygritty of the new stuff. The whole time I’m basically trying to figure out what the vibe even is, because it surprised me in the best way—more indie/alternative and summery than I expected, like yellow/Malibu energy. I talk about what hits immediately (“Sunflowers” literally floored me), what I think will grow on me, and the few moments that didn’t work for me right away (yes, I had notes). There are emotional highs and lows too—“Dark to Light” fully caught me off guard and felt devastatingly beautiful, and I shared my initial interpretation of it. By the end, I give my album rating (I landed at a 7.5/10) and my top three songs: “Broken Bones,” “Sanity,” and of course “Sunflowers,” which I will be running into the ground.
