About This Video

Today I’m doing a full album reaction to 5 Seconds of Summer’s sixth album, “Everyone’s a Star” (standard tracklist—12 songs). I’ve been listening to them since that 2014 era, and while I really enjoyed “5SOS5,” the stuff I love most from them is their pop punk side… so I came into this hoping they’d tap back into their roots. We start with the title track and then hit the singles I already knew (“Bite The Apple, Babe,” “Telephone Busy,” and “Boy Band”) before diving into the brand-new tracks. As I go track-by-track, I talk production, vibes, and the moments that immediately grabbed me—like “Number One Obsession” coming out the gate strong, “I’m Scared I’ll Never Sleep Again” being insanely vibey (and yes, the speaking part weirdly works for me), and “Sick of Myself” giving me indie/alt rock energy that had me gripping my chair. Overall, the big takeaway is this: the album sounds different while still keeping that classic 5SOS essence, and it feels more cohesive than “5SOS5” to me. I expected more pop punk/rock, but I’m not mad at the synthy, dancey direction—because it works. My initial rating landed at an 8/10, and I’m fully convinced this album is going to go absolutely crazy live.
