About This Video

Over the years, a lot of people have asked me how I set up my monitor to stay productive, efficient, and focused. In this video, I give you a quick tour of my ultra wide monitor and, more importantly, the 4-zone layout I use every single day. You don’t need an ultra wide to take ideas from this—though by the end, you may see why having that extra horizontal space can be a big advantage. My approach is simple: I split my screen into four sections and I’m intentional about what lives where. About 60% of my monitor (the center) is my web browser, because that’s where most of my work happens—and I try to keep my tab count to around seven. On the left, I rotate between ChatGPT (usually on most of the day, often using dictation) and my files/folders for quick access and easy drag-and-drop into tools like Trello or email. On the right, the top is for quick reference—like a notepad, a file, or a spreadsheet—and the bottom right is reserved for one dedicated app: my calculator, which I use at least a dozen times a day. The big takeaway: keep your main app front and center 80–90% of the time, and use the other zones to reduce friction without adding distraction.
