About This Video

If you use Trello but you haven’t touched automations yet, you’re missing out on one of Trello’s best features. In this video, I walk you through exactly how to get started with Trello Automations (especially Rules) so you can stop doing the same manual steps over and over again—moving cards, opening them up, assigning yourself, setting due dates, adding labels, and so on. My goal is simple: get Trello to remember what should happen so you don’t have to. I show you the three-step framework behind every automation: choose a trigger, choose one or more actions, then review and save. Using a real example, I create a rule where “when a card is added to the Drafts list,” Trello automatically adds me as a member and sets a due date three days from today. Along the way, I explain how to navigate the trigger/action menus, what those square option boxes mean (more settings), how “added” can include created/copied/emailed/moved, and why you should never forget the final Save button. I also show you how to toggle, edit, copy, or delete automations—and how you can apply automations across multiple boards.
