In this Fantom Podcast Olympia wrap-up special, me and Joe break down MR OLYMPIA 2024 properly—what I saw in person in Vegas, what surprised me, and what I think the judges actually rewarded. For me, the Olympia belongs in Vegas; it’s got that “Super Bowl” feel with the strip, the hotels, the restaurants, and (importantly) the gyms. We start with Men’s Open: Samson winning is massive for the UK—first Mr Olympia since Dorian, and he did it with a complete, dominant look. He wasn’t “peeled” like some people demand, but overall bodybuilding—structure, size, presence, proportions—he looked like the best body on the planet. We get into the rest of the Open shake-up too: Derek landing third didn’t surprise me once he walked out—legs looked downsized and the overall balance wasn’t there compared to last year. Martin Fitzwater impressed me the most as a rookie; he stood his ground in that first callout and didn’t look out of place next to Hadi and Derek. We also talk Andrew Jacked’s softer look and the routine/music situation—my honest take is you’ve got to stay on and pose, especially at the Olympia. Then we cover Classic Physique chaos (56 guys is madness), Chris Bumstead retiring on top, and why Mike Sommerfeld looked like the star of the show. Next year gets very interesting in Classic, and in Open I’ve got Samson winning again—he’s only going to get better.
