Yes guys, gym tours are back and this one’s UltraFlex Derby — my first ever UltraFlex and it’s only been open a couple of months. I drove over from my gym (Ultimate Fitness) and it took about 30–40 minutes from Birmingham, so it’s a proper doable trip if you’re in the Midlands. The place was absolutely rammed when I got there, music cranked up, proper young crowd, and a really good vibe. We were there around Easter and it felt like everyone was in for a serious session. Kit-wise, it’s basically a gym rat’s paradise. You’ve got the best of the best spread over two floors: Atlantis everywhere, Prime, Hoist, Hammer Strength, Gymleco, plus loads of platforms, racks, cable stations, and dumbbells up to 100kg. The leg area is ridiculous as well — multiple pendulum squats, multiple hack squats, and a huge bit of kit I’ll be coming back to try properly on a leg day. Overall it’s super clean and tidy, everything feels brand new and smooth, and they’re strict on putting weights back (warnings, then a ban). A couple areas are a bit cramped and the music’s not my taste, but as a hardcore-friendly Midlands gym, I’m giving it a 9/10 and I’ll definitely be back.
