In this video I’m breaking down every M5 device Apple announced in early October for Fall 2025, plus what it means for the rest of the lineup heading into 2026. The M5 chip itself is a pretty solid upgrade over M4, with a noticeable CPU and GPU bump that translates into nice general performance gains—and honestly, some surprisingly good gaming boosts too. Apple’s still catering to a relatively small gaming audience, but year-over-year gains like this are exactly how you eventually get more studios to take the platform seriously. On top of that, M5 also brings a significant jump in AI performance. For 2025, Apple put M5 into three products: the starter 14-inch MacBook Pro, the iPad Pro, and the Apple Vision Pro. The starter M5 MacBook Pro is the one most people will care about, and even if Apple’s comparison chart makes it look the same as the M4 model, it isn’t—same starting price, plus faster SSD and better RAM performance. The M5 iPad Pro is a nice spec bump for power tablet users, but I’ll keep saying it: iPadOS still needs more freedom to really use that power. And the Vision Pro gets a meaningful upgrade with M5, a new over-the-head strap, and a 120Hz display—still niche at $3,500, but it’s a step in the right direction.
