Dad’s been too busy, and my garden corner turned into a jungle of weeds—painful to look at. So in this video I call in reinforcements (my best buddy), and we take on a mega project: turning that messy corner into a 2-in-1 system—an aquarium plus a duck house combo. First I clear the weeds, then we start digging the aquarium. With a good friend around, every shovel feels lighter, and I keep it zero-waste by using the dug soil straight into the duck house foundation. I also use backyard clay to coat the aquarium walls and bottom as a homemade waterproofing hack, then add a thin layer of cement inside for extra security—because waterproofing never hurts. For the duck house, I build a bamboo frame, drill and set the poles, tie everything tight, and cover the roof with nep/leaf roofing for a cool, durable, rustic finish. I split old bamboo and weave wall panels, then add a small bamboo fence around the area. After scrubbing the aquarium clean, I drain and refill until the water looks crystal clear, then release the fish. Inside the duck house, I spread a thick layer of rice husks—soft on feet, easy to clean, and helps with odor. In just a few days, we end up with a relaxing mini paradise—and yes, fresh fish and clean duck eggs for dinner.
