Hey, hey—it’s us again. In this video, Dad and I build a low-cost DIY chicken coop that’s perfect for a tiny city house when you’re still dreaming of fresh backyard eggs. I walk you through the full build from raw wood to a finished “small but mighty” urban coop: cutting, trimming, sanding everything smooth, assembling the main frame, and then priming the wood to help protect it from termites, bugs, and dampness. From there, we add the details that make it practical and secure—wire mesh around the ground level for airflow and safety, thin wooden panels for the ceiling, and cute little door frames with hinges and latches. My favorite part is the 2-level setup: we stack two smaller mini coops on top of the big one and connect them with a wood-and-mesh bridge, like a rooftop patio for chickens. We finish with a green trim for that city chicken chic look and a heavy-duty tarp roof to block sun and rain. Then it’s the best moment—releasing the chickens into their new home and knowing exactly where our food comes from.
