About This Video

In this video I’m giving you a full smart home tour of my house and showing you the smart products I’m actually using day to day. I walk room by room—from the kitchen and bathroom to the living room, bedroom, gaming lounge, and my office setup—so you can see what’s smart, what’s still “standard,” and where I’m planning upgrades. Right now my main ecosystem is Google Home Assistant, so you’ll see Nest Minis, Google/Nest speakers, and how I use voice plus screens to control everything. A big theme in my setup is lighting. I’m using Philips Hue bulbs, Hue Go, Hue Play Bars, Hue light strips, and even Nanoleaf panels as my “ceiling lights” in the living room because I wanted something different (and I already had panels laying around). I also show my Philips Ambilight TVs (I’ve got multiple in the house) because I love the built-in ambient lighting—great effect without needing extra sync boxes. I also talk about automations like sunset accent lighting, stair lights that trigger as I walk, and my bedroom wake-up routine with a Hue “sunrise,” music, and calendar updates. Finally, I explain why I’m planning to move from Google Home to Home Assistant soon. Google Home is simple and works great, but Home Assistant is open-source and gives me way more advanced automations, integrations, and data—so I want to switch before I add even more devices.
