This is the most cheapest MacBook you can get from the Apple Store right now, so I had to get my hands on the M4 MacBook Air and see what it can really do after just over 3 months in my everyday workflow. In this video I run it through real-world use—file transfers from my MacBook Pro, loads of tabs, a movie running, Adobe Premiere Pro open, and even exporting a high-res video at the same time. I’m not the biggest fan of performance data, but I still drop some Geekbench numbers for reference and focus more on how it actually feels day to day. I break down the design (no major redesign, but that new sky blue is subtle and changes depending on your lighting), the keyboard and trackpad, ports (two Thunderbolt 4 + MagSafe + headphone jack), and the 15-inch display with the notch and 12MP Center Stage camera. Battery is a big one here too—Apple claims up to 18 hours, but my experience varies based on what you’re doing. I also talk about Apple Intelligence: it’s useful for text composition in Notes, but it’s still lacking in a lot of ways. My takeaway: it’s an amazing laptop for the money, especially if you’re coming from Intel or an M1 Air—otherwise, I’d probably hold off.
