In this Day In The Life, I took the base model 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro with me on a productive workcation in Barcelona and basically tried to use it exactly how I normally would—emails, Notion, script writing, calls, and then a proper creator-style stress test at night. I started the day around 11 and kept an eye on battery the whole time (100% at breakfast, 99% after emails), while also talking through the stuff that actually matters day-to-day: the unchanged design, the ports I rely on as a creator (MagSafe, HDMI, SD card), and the keyboard feel. I’m still begging Apple for Face ID on the MacBook Pro, by the way. I also tested the Liquid Retina XDR display indoors and then took it outside in bright sun to show the reality: the standard screen looks incredible inside, but glare outdoors is super annoying—even under shade—especially if you’re like me and live in dark mode. If you work outside a lot, I’d genuinely spend the extra $150 on the nano-texture option, even though I personally skipped it because it dulls the colours a bit. To finish the day, I pushed multitasking hard (Chrome tabs, Prime Video, YouTube, multiple desktops), edited in Lightroom and Photoshop, then cut a 4K Premiere Pro timeline. I did hit the memory limit once, but it never crashed, and I still ended the day around 9:45 p.m. with 8% battery left—absolute beast behaviour.
