With 1/3 of primary school-aged children being overweight or obese by the time leave school in the UK, it’s never been more important to talk to them and educate them about nourishing their body with good food and nutrition. We know that the language we use and the way we say things can heavily influence our children in how they view themselves and their relationship with food, so it’s important that as parents/carers/teachers etc we are compassionate, understanding, and deliver facts with these things considered. But…is it right to use the word ‘fat’ to describe those in larger bodies or should this be a word we avoid when speaking with our children about their body image and weight? Listen to a very interesting discussion where I highlight how to approach using specific words to help the positive shaping of young minds.
